Gumbo Sale Hugely Successful!   1 comment

Yesterday, Sunday, May 6th, our little band of workers held a gumbo sale. Two of us spent Saturday in the prep kitchen of a professional restaurant with another chef (Barbara is one) and others of us spent it in our own kitchens preparing over 45 pounds of shrimp gumbo, 6 pans of peach cobbler, and 4 batches of cornbread.  It was a busy, hectic and wonderful day because we were all working toward the same goal – SUNDAY!
The day proved to be gorgeous and people were generous.  We made over $700!  Thanks to all who contributed, either by direct funds or buying our wares, providing the labor or the ingredients or the flowers (thank you, Susan! they were gorgeous) or the muscles or the driving or the announcements in local churches or the prayers.  We are getting very excited about this upcoming trip!
